Dr Sandra Baxendell, PSM, BVSc (Hons), PhD MANZCVS, GCertAppSC(RurExt), GCertPSectMgt, PGDAppSc, MRurSysMan, has extensive formal qualifications, including a Certificate IV in Training & Assessment. She was dux when she graduated in 1975 and conducted her PhD research focusing on goat health, specifically using goats. Dr Sandra Baxendell has also completed her college membership exams in goats and was accredited for the Market Assurance Program for Johne's disease, although this has since lapsed as goat MAP no longer requires this accreditation. Additionally, she has a strong understanding of veterinary medicines for goats.
To enhance goat owners' skills and knowledge, Dr. Sandra Baxendell aims to introduce effective husbandry systems that will leave a legacy of improved goat health and foster stronger goat industries, utilizing the best veterinary medicines for goats.
Access to veterinary medicines for goats by veterinarians and goat owners is severely restricted due to a lack of residue data for goats. Dr. Sandra Baxendell has taken many opportunities to raise this issue in government reviews, even speaking directly to the Productivity Commissioners. Both my husband, a goat handler who cares about goat health, and I are now over 70 years of age, which increases our risks regarding Covid-19.
